Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 26, 2025 – The Kia PV5 WKNDR concept has been honored with the Silver Award in the Automotive & Transportation category at the 2025 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
The Kia PV5 WKNDR concept draws its inspiration from Kia’s new lineup of Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs). It was designed with versatility at its core, offering an interior that is highly flexible and easily adjustable to maximize both space and functionality.
One of its standout innovations is the “Gear Head”, a unique exterior storage solution that provides secure space for equipment while the vehicle is parked. This feature allows optimal use of the interior while keeping gear easily accessible from outside. The Gear Head can also be transformed into a mobile kitchen, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy preparing meals in scenic locations.
The concept is designed for self-sufficiency, equipped with solar panels and wheels featuring small hydropower turbines capable of recharging the batteries even in remote and off-road environments. The interior also emphasizes sustainability with eco-friendly materials, including Nike Grind floors made from recycled sneakers, blending practicality with modern aesthetics.
Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design, said:
“Receiving this recognition from IDEA is a tremendous honor, as it demonstrates the impact and value of Kia’s design philosophy ‘Opposites United’ in shaping our future vision.”
He added:
“Such awards celebrate the dedication of our global design team, motivating us to continue innovating and reinforcing Kia’s commitment to delivering meaningful and valuable products to our customers.”
The International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) are recognized as one of the top three global design awards and have celebrated carefully developed products for nearly half a century. Organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), IDEA has honored influential designs across sectors including automotive, branding, technology, and lifestyle.
Entries are evaluated by a global panel of more than 40 multidisciplinary judges, based on criteria such as design innovation, aesthetics, user benefit, societal benefit, and brand value. This holistic approach ensures that winners represent excellence across every dimension, cementing IDEA’s status as one of the world’s most respected design awards.
